Kegeti Pass

Sunday, July 28, 2024

Kegeti pass was told to be one of the most challenging passes (3770asl) if coming up from our side. It used to be a bigger pass, but after a landslide the pass is not usable for cars anymore, so it's mostly shepperds, horse riders and cyclists going up on this pass. Even though we had about 1.5 hours hike a bike, we were just happy it wasn't as hard as Dzhuku pass and really enjoyed going up with some beats.

On the other side down, we were lucky having a big, nice downhill about 3000m altitude, back to the capital city Bishkek. Arriving too early for our plane at the 31st of August, we enjoy some relaxing time with nice people in our hostel.

Due to the heat and mostly desert parts in Usbekistan, we decided to change our plans and fly to Spain, cycling to Swiss from there. Looking forward to more varied food again, replace the broken waterfilter (no chance to find it here) and hopefully fix the camera or get a new one as soon as possible 🤞🏼

Karakol Pass

The way up to karakol pass surprised us bein one oft the most beautiful valleys on this trip. People were unimaginable friendly and the nature was incredible. The weather was mostly nice beside the mandatory daily rain and we got surprised with beautiful rainbows and campspots.

Kon Sul Lake

After some rest, we headed towards the touristy Son Kul mountain lake at 3200 meters. With better roads and lower scenery resembling Otago New Zealand, we found glorious camping the whole way up.

Son Kul was well catered for tourists with delicious food, and big tourist mashutkas (Central Asia mini vans). We enjoyed some different yurts until we made our way to lower & hotter elevations.
