Good roads, Horse riding & tranquil vistas
Having a short break in the small city of Naryn, we joined forces with 2 Austrians Lena & Jacob, who are traveling with folding bikes from South-East Asia back home. The roads were fast & after spotting a horse treking location to the tallest waterfall in Central Asia, we couldn't pass up the chance for the Shar Waterfall.
What a day! Galloping upto 3200 meters on challenging muddy trails, this horse riding was a whole lot faster then riding our bikes. Halfway through the trek, a sudden hailstorm catches us & completely soaks our camera. We were unsure if it could be saved as we made our way to the waterfall, freezing cold until the sun warmed our spirits. We even spotted Ibex looking down at us. A day full of new experiences as we enjoyed the steep mountains surrounding us on our trek back.
Pushing towards the border of China, we made a sharp turn towards the city of Baetov, which involved an isolated sheppards valley. Getting caught in rainstorms consistently, we made it over the pass, not without Russians wanting us to test their shotgun.
Gabriele & I wanted to push over the last pass, which we were rewarded with stunning views & a campsite overlooking a growing thunderstorm. We managed to finish making our food before the first drop of rain touched our tent. The next morning we rolled up our tent, meeting other bikepackers along the way into the city of Baetov.
So many great photos from this section so part 2 soon...
